A lot has been written about the digitalization of oil and gas (O&G) well construction – in particular, as it relates to the drilling phase. Recently, as more exploration and production (E&P) companies adopt emerging technology innovations of the Digital Age, attention has turned to advancements in well program digitalization, or virtual representation and analysis (the O&G Digital Twin concept), of the well through its entire life cycle. The integrated O&G Digital Twin concept provides a digital construct of the well construction process, which is then used to optimize the well construction phases of planning, design, and execution.

This webinar will discuss the new direction and benefits afforded by implementing the Landmark Digital Well Program™ solution, along with its Digital Twin component, with the goal of helping to address today’s most pressing concerns, such as:

  • Reducing well program preparation time Increasing well reliability
  • Accelerating end-to-end well delivery
  • Maximizing well productivity, while lowering cost

Speaker: Dr. Ed Marotta, Chief Advisor, Digital Twin and Optimization, Halliburton Landmark

Dr. Egidio “Ed” Marotta is Chief Advisor, Digital Twin and Optimization, for Halliburton Landmark. He has over 25 years of academic and industry experience in the development of physics-based models and data-driven models. He applies a unique systems engineering philosophy to reach his goals when analyzing systems. Dr. Marotta is also experienced in helping customers realize value from modeling and simulation, analysis-led design, and the incorporation of digital twins for asset health monitoring and prognostication. He holds the rank of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Fellow and American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) Associate Fellow, and is active in ASME and AIAA technical committees, including the ASME Offshore Technology Conference (OTC). Dr. Marotta has recently organized and moderated panel sessions at OTC on the applications of digital transformation and digital twin modeling for subsea applications.

Speaker: Adolfo Gonzales, Senior Product Manager, Halliburton Landmark

Adolfo Gonzales is a Senior Product Manager for drilling and completion engineering software at Halliburton Landmark. He has been in the oil and gas industry for more than 40 years in the upstream sector, spending the first 14 years of his career in well operations in Latin America and in the Gulf of Mexico before transitioning into advisory roles in advance wellbore thermal flow, tubular analysis engineering, and the digitization of the well construction process. Mr. Gonzales has co-authored numerous SPE papers and holds several patents. He holds an engineering geology degree from San Marcos University, Lima Peru.
