iEnergy® is the first hybrid cloud designed and engineered to deploy cloud applications in true DevOps fashion to public or private clouds and to edge devices. In this spotlight article, we identify the 12 reasons why you should be considering iEnergy as you transition to the cloud.
iEnergy Cloud dramatically reduces deployment time, including installation, configuration, and testing. The traditional deployment approach can take months to go live, because of sequential and tedious iterative processes, while iEnergy Cloud leverages the full DevOps CI/CD-based approach that deploys to various environments in a matter of weeks.
iEnergy Cloud enhances collaboration across private and public cloud assets, facilitating more informed and robust decision making. It provides oversight and visibility across the entire E&P landscape or agile response and adaptation to enterprise changes. iEnergy Cloud offers customers the ability to connect across all global locations—from the well head to corporate headquarters, remote offices, and Joint Venture locations—with full access to the same data.
Customers are empowered to access rich, 3D seismic renderings remotely from any location using iEnergy Cloud. This allows them to collaborate with colleagues around the world and make quicker, more accurate decision.
Customers are not constrained by computing capacity; they can easily scale and leverage high computing clusters on large volumes of data to run:
Infrastructure currently available on premise has a fixed configuration and is not scalable. In contrast, iEnergy Cloud offers optimized scalable environments that can scale up and down depending on demand; hence, providing customers with the opportunity to run large-scale models anytime for minimum investment. When consumption is low, the customer’s monthly bill will reflect it, providing true pay-per-use capability.
iEnergy Cloud guards against threats to cybersecurity in the cloud. The Security Operations Center (SOC) continuously monitors all systems in real time for vulnerabilities or malicious behavior, along with a dedicated Incident Response team that can rapidly respond and address any immediate security concerns. This allows iEnergy Cloud to maintain its SOC2 compliances. E&P companies can transition to the cloud with confidence that their organization’s assets and operations are protected.
iEnergy Cloud provides fully managed E&P cloud operations support for continuous cost and performance optimization, including monitoring, backup and recovery, scheduled maintenance, continuous patching, and fast software update cycles. iEnergy Cloud leverages cloud-native tools and strategies to ensure optimal operations:
Customers should never have to worry about losing their data due to hardware failure, or even accidental changes. iEnergy Cloud leverages cloud-native backup tools and strategies to provide data protection. For VMs, backups are performed daily, weekly, and monthly for data and applications. iEnergy Cloud also offers recovery services, with time to recover depending on the volume of data.
iEnergy Cloud offers regular maintenance windows to upgrade applications, patch operating systems, upgrade security, and reboot system if necessary. Security upgrade patches are applied during these maintenance windows. All patches are tested before deploying to the customer environment. Customers are notified ahead of time and communications are announced via the Customer Success organization.
iEnergy Cloud employs a metering, monitoring, and logging (MML) methodology that continuously monitors performance and security of applications and underlying infrastructure, logs any critical issues, creates alerts, and sends notifications. Alerts automatically notify cloud operations, performance engineering, and R&D teams to proactively review and resolve issues. Real Time Operation Centers monitor for issues 24/7 and tickets are automatically created for new issues, and then routed and scheduled to reduce any impact on a customer’s ability to deliver results.
iEnergy streamlines and automates application deployment through its continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) services, resulting in dramatically reduced time for maintenance and patching. It uses regular monthly maintenance windows for edge devices, QA, pre-production, and production environments to accomplish application upgrades, OS patching, security upgrades, and system reboots. Upgrades are deployed using a ring approach, where all patches are first tested internally before moving on to QA, then pre-production, and finally production for public/private cloud and edge devices.
Teams of dedicated resources are continuously optimizing Infrastructure and services for DecisionSpace® 365 cloud applications powered by iEnergy Cloud to ensure superior performance and reduced cost. Halliburton has experienced subject matter experts who apply their years of experience and spend considerable amount of time to ensure all applications are right-sized to continuously improve performance and provide the best customer experience.
iEnergy Cloud has 100+ cloud deployments across the world. It is SOC 2 compliant, provides 24/7 global operations support, and has technology partnerships with many industry-leading organizations. Compared to traditional, on-premise systems, iEnergy Cloud offers a 50% reduction in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).
