ABOUT THE WEBINAR
Plate tectonic models are important tools in natural resource exploration workflows. The history of plate tectonic models has been intertwined with advances in technology and applications in the oil industry, and they significantly help to shape our comprehension of the Earth as a dynamic planet with its lithosphere segmented into plates.
It is useful to have geological context dated as far back as possible, in order to understand the assembly of the main continental cores, as well as relevant tectonic lineations and inheritances that are carried forward to the present day. These features are often critical to understanding the distribution and nature of hydrocarbon, mineral and geothermal resources.
In this webinar, we will discuss the importance of:
- Understanding deeptime tectonics in the Arabian peninsula,
- How plate tectonic boundaries are key to building plate tectonic models and,
- Our new partnership agreement designed to significantly extend the temporal resolution of our plate tectonic offering, providing more than 2 billion years of continuous tectonic insights.
We will also discuss the accretion of the Arabian–Nubian Shield (ANS) that took occurred during the late Neoproterozoic Era, between 800 and 550 Ma, and investigate its tectonic control on the distribution of paleo-facies which is important for hydrocarbons, subsequent structures and regional mineral deposits.
