Neftex® Insights delivers detailed evaluation of the sequence stratigraphy, geological history and petroleum geology of Europe; from the Atlantic
margins in the west, Sweden in the north and the Mediterranean and Turkey in the south.
Our regional interpretations developed for the Europe region demonstrate the value of a global integrated sequence stratigraphic model approach
in understanding the petroleum geology of frontier regions like the European North Atlantic margin. In this area the well-known petroleum
systems of the Norwegian margin and proven plays of the Canadian conjugate margin can be used as an analogue for frontier regions like the
Hatton, Rockall and Porcupine basins. Reservoir sand prediction can be enhanced by considering the geodynamic context of an area and its
implications for sediment provenance and preservation. This enhances the knowledge available for a data-poor frontier region and helps you to
better understand inherent exploration risks.
Europe is currently a major area of focus for shale gas exploration. We have used our sequence stratigraphic model to temporally and spatially
constrain potential shale gas source rock horizons across the region including the Carboniferous of the United Kingdom and Ireland and the
Cambrian, Ordovician and Silurian systems of the circum-Baltic area. Combined with play characterization data, this provides a powerful tool for
evaluating shale gas prospectivity.
