Today, subsurface sensors, such as fiber optics, bottomhole gauges and flowmeters, give unique opportunities for better understanding hydrocarbon reservoirs. This offers the opportunity to automate and optimize several processes in the completion and production phases, to enable better investment returns, maximized production, and significant project risk minimization.
  

Talk 2 – Listen, Speak and Learn. Benefit from the Data.

It is important to understand the digitalization part in the communication between the reservoir and the well. Utilization of subsurface information provides an opportunity to control the reservoir and production in an optimized and automated way. Communication is the key factor here. As we listen, we can also start to speak the same language as the digital downhole tools and send commands to them.

   

Talk 3 – Underground Storage

The third talk in the series is related to digitalization of underground storage (UGS). Today, UGS operators are facing stricter legislation in regard to well integrity management. In this talk, we explain how to make a quick and easy change to digitalized solutions. The speaker focuses on the utilization of fiber optics, bottomhole sensors and digitalized surface infrastructure to better control and manage underground storage wells, midstream and downstream connections.

Talk 4 – Voice of Mature Fields

From an oil and gas production perspective, the focus in many regions is on mature fields. As wells age and fields become more depleted, it is important to understand how to increase recovery and minimize risk.

Risks are associated with significant CAPEX investment related to workover operations. The process of identification of issues in the well can cause lengthy and expensive production decreases or stops. Such operations can be optimized through technology bundles which merge hardware and software into one unique solution.

Talk 5– Unconventional Assets Digitalization

Tight gas, coal bed methane (CBM) and shale deposits are common globally. The shale market is dominant in North America but developing in South America. Tight gas has a global presence, and CBM has reached maturity in the U.S., Australia, and China, with growing potential in Poland. Digitalization through optimization and automation of the processes in the well completion phase leads to a greater understanding of asset productivity.

Listening and speaking with subsurface sensors allows changes in reservoir mechanics and enables productivity to be tracked. The application of E&P digital twins can lead to a significant reduction of uncertainties and quick, effective troubleshooting of problems.

Talk 6 – Exploration and Field Development: Maximizing Potential Through Smart Fields

Exploration is still occurring globally. However, operators would like to be prepared upfront for any fluctuations in the oil and gas price. Therefore, the concept of creating smart fields offers a significant advantage due to automation and optimization of production and the associated processes.

The completion phase plays a significant role in the field lifecycle, and, therefore, appropriate design and optimization can influence production. The lifespan of current solutions could provide benefits from subsurface data for a minimum of 10 to 15 years before the next generation of tools, algorithms and workflows are released. Connection to field information through subsurface data allows for better planning of development projects. Now more than ever, production and workovers can fully realize the benefits of optimization and automation.
