Neftex® Insights delivers detailed evaluation of the sequence stratigraphy, geological history and petroleum geology of Australia, New Zealand,
Papua New Guinea and their associated continental shelves.
Our sequence stratigraphic interpretations of well data from all the region’s basins, combined with a suite of Gross Depositional Environment
(GDE) maps and Chronostratigraphic Charts illustrate the area’s geological evolution throughout the Phanerozoic. In association with geodynamic
reconstructions, these regional interpretations demonstrate the strong geological similarities between vast, under-explored basins such as
the Great South Basin, off New Zealand’s South Island, and productive basins such as the Taranaki Basin and further afield, the Gippsland and
Otway Basins in South Australia.
Our regionally integrated interpretations help understand data-poor areas such as the Great South Basin. It has a proven working petroleum
system, evident by multiple hydrocarbon shows, a sub-commercial gas discovery at Kawau-1A in the south of the basin and several oil seeps at
Stewart Island, the northwest basin limit. Use of analogous basins and geological trends help us to deliver a better understanding of the stratigraphy,
basin structure and ultimately the petroleum systems of the Great South Basin and all the other basins across the Australia & New Zealand
region.
